In a world which increasingly feels broken, bitter, and divided, I find solace in the peculiar act of loading an unreasonable amount of gear into a rucksack, defying social conventions surrounding cleanliness, and simply putting one foot in front of the other, searching for new horizons.

This site is a record of my thoughts from the trail. I document my journeys not just as a way to share, but as a practice to stay present, slow down, and pay attention to the places and people I encounter. In my experience, people are not politics, nor the images we see on the news — they are frequently curious, open-minded, and generous, even towards ragged Englishmen who offer nothing in return.

Join me on the journey of stumbling over rocks, mistaking sticks for venomous snakes, and frequent failures to deal at all stoically with hiking in the rain. All of this while wondering where the next cup of Earl Grey tea will come from.
