I’m more confused than a sheep on astroturf!
Today was…actually rather lovely as it happens. Probably 20km of the day was on 4wd tracks and the rest
was certainly no worse than most TA trails. True, it was by no means a direct route, but I am really
confused what all the complaints have been about. Having mentally prepared for a rubbish walk, this has
been one of my favourite days in a while. Beautiful scenery, easy walking and a lovely cabin on
Birchwood station to spend the evening in. Pretty much all I want from a day on trail.
Tonight’s cabin is especially welcome as my legs have felt pretty heavy all day. Everyone seems to have
felt the same, so I guess it’s just the aftereffects of the previous 3 days of tough walking. Having
showered, eaten several apples, 2 dinners and spent several hours reclining in an armchair in front of the
fire, I feel much restored. Not entirely sure I want to leave such a comfortable spot, but at least warm,
well fed and comfortably sleepy.
