I made it! Leaving camp with the dawn at 05:45, I managed to reach the bus stop with an hour to spare at 11:30. My legs are tired and look forward to a day off though. They feel weak and underfed, and protest every uphill today. I should have packed more food for this leg. Still, my pack felt light, and with stops only to eat a snack or harvest a few huckleberries I made the distance in time.
Even better, upon arrival at the bus stop there were already at least 10 hikers waiting and trail angels handing out beer, fizzy drinks and fresh fruit. An unlooked for respite after a wearying walk.
The rest of the day has been taken up chatting with other, primarily northbound, hikers, eating pizza and getting the lay of the land in yet another small town.
A good afternoon, and one which my legs and stomach are saying should be repeated tomorrow.

Food a plenty. I bet the bus must take on a curious wiff when 10 hikers stager on. I bet the driver puts his foot down to get to Trout lake quick to buy more febrze.
Yay! You got the bus! And what could be nicer than to be greeted with cans of beer, fizzy drinks and fruit. The trail angels are amazing.
