One thing I have to get off my chest, “What is with all the deer skull decor in Austria and Bavaria?”. Is it a warning after the last great deer uprising to never again rebel against their human overlords? Is it an unobtrusive security device, where burglars are pinned (or skewered) to the floor by a falling chandelier of 100 deer antlers? Once you start looking, it is as if the southern Germanic regions are still blissfully unaware of the invention of plastic. Only today, I have seen a bottle opener with a deer antler handle and a beer pump that was a deer pump. Rustic it certainly is, bit after a while it all gets a little much. One particularly fancy place I stayed had several recessed holes in the floor, covered with glass, containing very small skulls and antlers. Charnel house chic is not the ambience I usually appreciate in my breakfast room.
Owing to my inability to keep track of days while hiking, tomorrow will be a very short day. My original plan was to overnight in a mountain hut (as no accommodation in Lengries was available) and hike down in the morning to buy food, before continuing on my way. Rather an oversight as tomorrow is Sunday, which means no grocery stores will be open. So tomorrow is a rather unplanned rest day, which will require a long day on Monday to catch up. With cheat assistance from a cable car I think it should be possible, but it’s not my finest planning hour.
On the up-side, at least this hut has WiFi, which is invaluable in catching up on my blog publishing. Without WiFi I find pictures difficult to upload and videos impossible, which causes a backlog when I don’t have a good internet connection. Owing to a run of nights outside of hotels my last updates have been posted using open WiFi connections from cafe’s, restaurants and even a cable car station. Sometimes it is difficult being a writing hobo.

Your doing a great job posting. Not many years ago it would be waiting for a post box to appear having already found a stamp. I like the miniature garden you found. I suppose when an area has a surplus of a commodity it gets used everywhere be it antlers or anything else.
Dear Writing Hobo,
Well done on finding places to post your blogs. It’s always nice to know how things are going.
Yes I agree it is odd displaying dead animal bones in your floor for decoration. I hope charnel house chic doesn’t catch on over here.
It’s not all bad messing up with the planning. It looks a lovely place to linger a little longer.
