A pleasant, but frustrating couple of days. Pleasant because I have been able to catch up with friends who
I didn’t expect to see again having dropped a week behind with my Taupo and Tongariro side trips.
Frustrating because the trail has yet to teach me patience and kicking my heels in town when I am so very
close to completing this island is agonising. I am finally back on the trail tomorrow though and aim to
finish the remaining 200km and be back in Wellington before my next rest day.

The saving grace of the past 2 days has been that I genuinely like Wellington as a place. From the parks,
cafes, quays, multitude of buskers and high rises there is as much activity or quietness as you choose.
Today has been a fine example. I have spent hours visiting the National War museum and touring round
their exceptional Gallipoli exhibit, have visited the shops for food and a new camera memory card and am
now writing this in a queyside park listening to an electric blues musician. After dinner I may well visit
the twice weekly evening market and see what it has to offer. After all, it may well be the only time I stay
up past 9 for a few weeks!

Anyway, I’m running out of time to write anything more now, so will try to write more from the trail!
